Christmastime: Experience the Joy of Giving

“And he will be called wonderful Counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, Prince of peace.” Isaiah 9:6

There are so many holiday traditions when it comes to this time of year. This certainly can be a very busy time and also it can be a very distracting time. I share this verse with you as a reminder about what this season is all about. There is a phrase that many of you have heard and it never gets old. “Jesus is the reason for the season.”

No matter where you are in your faith, it is also a reminder that this is a season of giving. When you become a giver, you understand the true meaning of Christmas and that there is joy in giving. We all have heard people say, “You cannot out-give God.” That is true and you also can’t out-give yourself either. You don’t have to be super rich to possess a giving heart. During this Christmas season, let me encourage you to give someone a smile. There are many people who are going through difficult times especially during this time of year. They need someone to talk to, lend them an ear. There are also people in need, extend them a hand. However you give, there is no doubt about it, you will see the blessings multiplied and returned back to you.

During this Christmastime, ask God to lay upon your heart someone you can help. I guarantee you that prayer will be answered. Reach out to them, invite them over for Christmas. Have a cup of coffee with them, let them know you care and you are there for them. Yes, you truly can make a difference In another person’s life.

Christmas certainly is a joyful time of the year but, unfortunately for many, it is a difficult time. Especially for those who have recently lost a loved one or perhaps gone through a divorce, or might be having financial struggles. Remember, as I always say, each of us is genuinely blessed. Don’t keep those blessings to yourself. We are blessed to be a blessing.

You truly have the power to be a positive support in someone’s life. I pray this Christmas season that you will receive an incredible joy, especially knowing the amazing joy of giving. Give hope, give encouragement, give a smile, give a warm greeting, give kindness and most importantly, give love to one another.

Have a joyful and blessed Christmas!
