Brian also did a short video for the new ‘Underdogs Collective’ website about his recent near death experience.
The Underdogs Collective highlights individuals that have overcome adversity and are now chasing their dreams. The platform was created to bring motivation, support, and inspiration to anyone going through a tough period in their life.
Adversity comes in many shapes and forms: poverty, illness, disorders, victim of a crime or accident, losing a loved one—the list goes on. The thing is, sometimes life hits us. Sometimes it hits us so hard that we lose all hope and desire to do anything. Believe me, I know. Now…who exactly am “I”?
My name is Jack Blossby, and I’m the founder of the Underdogs Collective.
When I was 17 years old and still in high school, I developed the eating disorder called anorexia, lost an unhealthy amount of weight and spiraled down one of the darkest periods of my life. Hair loss, freezing, no energy, and being trapped in my own destruction was about to be my day-to-day life for over a year.
When I realized I had anorexia, I started doing a lot of research and tried to find other males in similar situations in order to help ease my own. The problem was, I didn’t know where to turn and when I tried googling it…well, I mainly found women that talked about it. With that being said, props to all the women for being so open about it!
However, for just a 17-year-old kid at the time, it didn’t really help. In fact, I remember feeling more weird and more lonely since my perception of eating disorders at the time was that mainly women dealt with it – which couldn’t be further from the truth.
