It was unseasonably hot today in Huntington Beach. The sun shone down on my shoulders and the sea breeze was warm with the scent of sand and surf.

Autumn is here. The holiday season is fast approaching, and as I walked to the shelter yesterday, I once again realized how lucky I am to live near the coast of Southern California.

This season we watched a cycle as old as time but still able to cause Burt and I (two ‘Oldsters’) to breathe deeply and pause to sit back in wonder.

I truly never know what to expect as I walk to my volunteer job at our local animal shelter in Huntington Beach, California
