Steps to Improving Sales

Another year is upon us, and my prayer is that you have made the commitment to make 2018 your best year ever. We all have room to grow. We are all under construction, and it’s important to always look for ways to improve.

In order to improve our sales abilities, we have to become focused and dedicated to getting better at what we do.

Our goal is to be able to confidently express our beliefs, deliver a powerful presentation, and get our message across to our merchants.

As you make your commitment to improve in sales, here are some steps that will help you.

1) Develop a consistent positive attitude.

You can control your attitude. It is time to conquer all your fears. Change any beliefs that limit your success. Whatever you are thinking controls your commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, and confidence. Your attitude will determine how far you can go.

2) Work on your first impression.

The first few moments when you contact the merchant are crucial. The reality is, the people are buying YOU. They are going to make a decision on whether or not they like you. If they like you, they will listen to you. It’s vital that you do the necessary things to get people to like you.

This all starts with your attitude. Make sure you are smiling. Be genuine and sincere, and have the merchant’s best interest in mind. Be friendly and courteous, but do not be a doormat. People respond much better to people that are confident. Your confidence will bring out their confidence in you.

We have all heard that first impression is a lasting impression. Make sure you present an image of yourself that is positive. Dress for success. The better you look, the better you feel.

3) Be a listener.

The best salespeople are the best listeners. It’s time to stop thinking about pitching people and start thinking about having a conversation presentation. Listen to what the merchant’s needs are and go help them. By doing this, you will find a much better response from them. The reality is, people don’t want to be sold, they want to be helped.

4) Have a success plan.

By now, you should have already written down what your sales goals are for this year. If you have not, do that now! It’s vital that you have a purpose.

Write down the activity goals necessary for success, (how many calls per day, how many presentations, how many referrals, etc.)

Set results goals to measure your progress, and track them closely. Goals will focus your attention and energize your action.

5) Work a smart and consistent schedule.

There are no shortcuts to success. It takes a lot of persistence and consistency. Write out a plan each week of the areas you will be working. Work Monday through Friday and enjoy your evenings and weekends. If you put your all into it throughout the week, you’ll be amazed at how much you enjoy your weekends. You will have no regrets and you’ll be ready to take on the next week.

I am super pumped up for you this year. I’m excited about what is in store for all of us in 2018. Look for improvements in every area of your life.

Have a super fantastic week!
