There is no doubt about it. Your attitude will determine your level of success. It sure sounds simple, but the reality in sales, sometimes it may be difficult to always keep a positive attitude. There is so much negativity in the world and if you get caught up in it, it can bring you down. It all comes down to this question, “What are you focusing on?” It is so important to keep our thinking on things that are positive and helpful rather than thoughts that are destructive. Today I would like to share with you some steps which will help you get into the proper mindset to have success in sales.
1) Focus on Solutions.
In this life, you will have trouble. You will have obstacles. You will have challenges. The mistake that people make is that they focus only on the problem and begin to develop a negative attitude. Moving forward, understand that you will have problems. Don’t focus on the problems. Focus on solutions on how to solve the problems.
2) Control your mind.
One of the best ways to get negative thoughts out of your mind is to read a positive quote, affirmation, or a book. Make sure you are constantly talking to positive people that are going to lift you up.
It’s important that you stay motivated. Visual aids are very helpful. Take a picture of the type of vehicle you would like to have or the type of home that you would like to live in. This will allow you to set goals and while you are out making sales calls, you are constantly reminded of why you are doing what you’re doing.
3) Create your desire.
If you have found yourself to be content in your present situation, then you have no reason to go to the next level. This happens in our business. Making a residual income is certainly a blessing but also can be a curse. I’ve seen it over and over again where people reach a certain level and they become satisfied. They stop setting goals and lose their motivation. Don’t get me wrong, we are truly thankful for the blessings that we have but it is important to create a new desire.
Starting today, I’d like for you to start saying this phrase “Next one please.” This applies in so many areas. If you go out and make a sale, don’t stop there. You now have momentum. Go get the next one. Keep doing that. Once you have the third, one more door for four!
It also applies in your goal-setting. Once you have achieved your goal, move onto the next one. If you think you’re making too much money, start giving it away. Become a blessing to others. Keep setting goals. Keep improving. Keep getting better. You will have a lot of fun, and you will enjoy life so much more.
4). Keep learning.
We are all under construction. We have all made good choices and bad choices. The key is to keep learning and to keep moving forward. Release the past and look forward. Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.
Learn about the business that you are in. Learn about the new technology. Learn from the top sales people. Find out what makes them tick. Read books. Use your drive time as education time. Become an expert in positive thinking.
5) Just do it.
We’ve all heard this commercial many times over the years, and how true it is.
Make the decision that you are going to be a positive person. Whenever negative thoughts start creeping in, zap them out.
I have an assignment for you this week. I would like for you to think of one of the most positive individuals you know. Give them a call and ask them out for a coffee. Listen to their journey. Find out where they were years ago and what it took for them to get to where they are today. Don’t talk. Just listen. You’ll find that most people that are successful are excited to help others become successful.
Remember this, sales is a mindset. Products speak for themselves. Service speaks for itself. What you are selling is yourself. People respond to people that are enthusiastic, confident, and positive. Make the decision that you are going to be super positive. Choose to be successful. You are a winner!
You are God’s creation and He wants the very best for you. You can do this.
Have a super positive day today!
