Creating and Maintaining a Winning Mindset

I get asked over and over again, “When are you going to retire?” Chuckles often immediately follow. I’m at the point in my life where I don’t do this for the money. I’m very competitive, enjoy what I do, and I love helping other people achieve their dreams and goals. It is a true passion of mine. My goal is to help other people become winners.

If you were to ask all of our top performers about success, they will tell you that the journey is the destination. You never arrive. You work hard to succeed and then you work even harder to maintain that success. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. It’s a slow grind, and winning starts with your mindset.

When it comes to having a winning mindset, it isn’t given to you. You have to build it over time.

Here is how you do that.

1) Understand that it is much more than having talent.

The world is full of people who have potential. How many times have you met someone who never reached theirs?

Never rely on your gift or talent. A winning mindset understands that success requires discipline and hard work. We all have some kind of talent, but consistent top performers do not rely on this alone. They work hard on their craft; consistently looking for ways to improve their weaknesses and areas in which they can improve.

2) Adopt the term “grit”.

Grit, not talent or luck, is what brings high levels of achievement.
Grit is the combination of passion and perseverance. When you have grit, you have the ability to rebound from any adversity. It allows you to maintain being focused on your journey for success.

3)  Get the mojo going.

People who are successful and have momentum are not lucky, they are smart. They have figured out the source of momentum and with it, they find a smarter way for growing.

Many of you have heard me talk about riding the momentum wave. It sometimes takes a little while to get, but once you have it, keep going. Build your wave, and then ride it.

It’s important to have big goals, but they all begin with consistent baby steps. It’s not always going to be easy; however, make sure you give yourself credit for the small achievements. This helps you build momentum and keep you positive.

4) Have faith.

It’s important to have a vision. To succeed, you have to stay true to it.

We have a system in place here at Retriever Merchant Solutions that works. Success is all around you. Find the people who are, in life, where you want to be and simply emulate them.

Understand that our system works. Do not try to reinvent the wheel. Apply yourself with a positive attitude, put forth the effort, and have faith that you will succeed.

People with a winning mindset have faith in their vision and are mentally tough. They understand that nothing great or worth having comes easy.

5). Go for it.

You will meet people all over the world who have all kinds of dreams. They know exactly what they’re supposed to do to achieve their goals but, unfortunately, they don’t take action.

You cannot think your way to a goal, you have to act. So many times people tend to overanalyze things and procrastinate.

You have all the tools necessary to become successful. You have 100% support, you have the talent and all the resources. Do not wait. Make the decision and go for it!

Work on these areas and make a commitment to have the mindset of a winner. This takes persistence. It takes consistency, and it takes a winning attitude. You can do this!

Have a super fantastic week!
