Achieving Self-Confidence

I think we have all met someone and thought to ourselves, “This person has amazing self-confidence.” Of course, it’s our goal to become more self-confident in all aspects of our lives. Self-confidence is necessary to achieve success especially in the direct sales industry. I have found self-confidence is all about momentum. In our business, if we lose our momentum, we start to lose our self-confidence.

Self-confidence is something we need to work at every single day. Remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint. Today I would like to give you some very simple techniques that will improve your level of self-esteem.

1) Take a success inventory.

It’s time to break out a notebook and pen and start listing your past achievements. List the small ones and the big ones. You will find, as you begin to do this, you’ll start feeling a positive sense of pride. Keep this list visible and add to it as often as you can.

The problem is that most people focus on what they did not accomplish and this takes away their self-confidence. Begin to focus on your great accomplishments and add to your list. Keep it visible so you can remind yourself how awesome you are.

2) Take an attitude check.

If someone has low self-esteem, chances are their mental attitude is not very positive either. Keep track of your thoughts about yourself each day. Whenever you start to find yourself thinking negatively about anything, take a breath, and change it to a positive.

This is so true when it comes to direct sales. The mind is a powerful thing. For example, when you find yourself wondering if you’re going to have success, stop and immediately change your thoughts to, “ I am 100% capable of being successful in this business. I have been trained. I have a great attitude. The opportunities are unlimited. I will persist until I succeed.”

Get rid of all doubt and worry. The more a person worries, the less they will accomplish.

3) Do not allow others to bring you down.

Be careful who you are hanging around with. Be careful who you allow to influence you. If there is someone that you know who never has anything good to say about anyone or anything, it’s time to limit your time with them. If you want to be successful, you cannot be around negative, pessimistic people that only feel good when they are bringing others down. Surround yourself with optimistic and confident individuals, and begin to see the change in your attitude and self-confidence. Misery loves company but always remember, success breeds success.

4) Start laughing.

I think the problem is, is that most people take things too seriously and allow small issues to get to them. Life is too short. It’s time to start thinking about having fun and laughing more.

Choose to be a big kid again. Children laugh an average of 400 times a day. Adults only laugh approximately 15 times a day. As we grow older, think about all the laughs we are missing. It’s time to lighten up. Look for humor in every situation and you’ll be amazed how great you will feel.

5). Live with passion.

Self-confident people not only have goals but they also have a passion for life. Start setting some positive goals for yourself and make sure you write your plan out. Never look back or dwell on the negativity of the past. Your future looks bright, and today is the beginning of the rest of your awesome life.

If you would like to have consistent success in direct sales, self-confidence is a very important ingredient to achieve that. Remember that it is a daily thing.

Make the decision this week to take these five simple steps to help you achieve consistent self-confidence. I’ve always said this simple phrase:  “In order to be self-confident, you have to act self-confident.”

Be the most self-confident person you know, but always make sure you carry humility with that. Have a super fantastic week!
